About Me - Sherena Birkholz

Hey - what's shakin'?
So, you've probably read through one or two of my entries and wondered... "Who is this girl?"
Well, I'm not too sure if I'll answer all your questions, but I have enough to share to give an insight.

I haileth from the four-seasoned state of Wisconsin.
Daughter of King Berky and Queen Ma.
Born of the year 1985 on the 22nd day of October.

HAHAHAHAHA - see?  This is what happens when "About Me" sections are written in agony and watching Pocahontas.

Really.  I'm nothing special - just some girl who wants to live a little more healthier, work on fitness, and inspire/motivate others to reach their fitness goals (or in some cases, help others start).

I pretty much have the same story as everyone else who got into fitness.  And there's a couple categories to choose from because we all hail, I mean... come from, different backgrounds...
1.  Grew up living and breathing fitness - nope.
2.  Grew up in a health conscious family - nope.
3.  Grew up a fat kid with the emotional scars of teasing and degrading name-calling - BINGO.
4.  Decided one day I didn't want to be that person and wanted to live healthier - sure, I'll take that too.

Most people give me the bug-eyed look when I say, "I use to be a fat kid".
"What... no way"
"What... you don't look like you use to be fat"
"Get the hell outta here"

I've spent most of my life up until this point trying to figure out what's healthy for me.
Mostly, I'm happy to say I'm in the best shape of my life - and that's after having a baby.
My biggest phobia about growing up was getting pregnant and not being able to lose weight - that was before I figured out there's no special pill, shake, apparatus, or product to give me the body I want.
Exercise and diet.
Exercise and diet.  <---- Ugh, who would have thought that's the only way out of it all?

I tried...
1.  Diet pills.  I can't even remember the names of them all, but I only had water weight loss results.  And sometimes crazy jittery attacks.
2.  Nivea cellulite cream.  I'm sure that'll come out on the market again.  Ladies... cellulite is genetic.  And really... the only successful method to reduce it is to... (wait for it) EXERCISE.
3.  Some weird contracting/vibrating belt to stimulate your abdominal muscles.  The epitome of laziness - "let me lay here while something else works out my muscles".  Right.
4.  Some strange body breathing exercises that had me wheezing, holding my breath, and exhaling like a cow.  Strange.
5.  Severe calorie restriction or restrictive diets.  I drank my calories in alcohol mostly and could never follow a diet that said "eat this, but not that".  If you tell me I can't eat something... I'm going to fantasize about it all day long in my mind... probably with lingerie too.  Seriously...

You get the point - I've tried a lot of quick fix options that, in the end, do not exert much energy or were terrible for my health.

In the past I was the occasional gym participant on the treadmill, but could never stick to a work out routine.  It wasn't until I found running in winter 2011-12 that things changed for me.  Don't get me wrong, I still have my off weeks where I may not exercise or only exercise 1-2 times a week.
I'm not a fitness freak.  I'm determined and motivated, but I slip too.
I'm not perfect and will never claim to be perfect.

My slips don't re-route my path towards better health and fitness.  Regardless of the bumps in the road or when I remain parked on the side of the road, I always get back on.
There's some back-tracking that needs to be done, however the body remembers quickly.

I've finally figured out over the years, my body wants to exercise.  It doesn't want the easy way out.  My mind may want the easy way out, but that too benefits from exercise.

So fast forward to today...
I'm in a long-term relationship with a wonderful person who helps to keep me motivated along in this journey of health and fitness (but he gets no points for diet though!).
We have a beautiful daughter, Zariah; a house; a cat (Gus); and a dog (Lola).
Lola is my running partner in the spring/summer/fall.  Otherwise, she obediently watches me trudge along on the treadmill with jealousy (she won't run on the treadmill, we've tried) in the winter.
My current preferred work outs are running and Beachbody products.
Yes, I hate to break it to you... I am a Beachbody Coach.  Some say we are cult-like... some say we're only in it for the money.  I started Beachbody Coaching January 2014 and have met so many different people, reconnected with past schoolmates, and created some great relationships with people based on a common interest.
We don't have matching outfits... so we can't possibly be in a cult.

I enjoy running with Lola, but also completing runs or "races" (I don't race) with friends.  Every year I complete CrazyLegs Classic with a group of friends among other runs as well.  I enjoy mud runs, 5ks, and am working on completing my first half marathon summer 2014.

Before I get anymore "online dating" informational, I will close with this picture and the invitation to help you with whatever fitness goals, questions, or obstacles you need to overcome.  Free or with a purchase of a program of your choice... according to your goals.  Yup, you read that right... free.
You'll learn plenty more about me and my encounters through my posts in the future!
